All eyes on Angels prospect Michael Hermosillo

Updated: November 3, 2016

This season, let’s face it, this was one of those seasons that, you almost wish you were not an Angels fan. It was the perfect combination of disappointment and just plain ugliness. At least on the bright side, it was not a nail biter that caused huge disappointment, since most fans figured we would be out of the playoffs by the end of July, and that’s exactly what happened.

So it is time to see what we have to look forward to, there is a few Angels prospects that are currently tearing up the Arizona Fall League for the Scottsdale Scorpions. Let’s focus on one player in particular, Michael Hermosillo.

Hermosillo was originally a three sport athlete in high school. He was on his schools track, football, and baseball team.

It was not until recently when he shifted his focus on to one hundred percent baseball. Michael has the chance to be a 5 tool player similar to Mike Trout. He has shown to have serious discipline at the plate and he is very quick out of the box and on the base paths according to the Angels scouting report.

Another thing about this prospect in particular is that he is goal oriented, which is a very overlooked skill in today’s sports world.

When a player is goal oriented he is driven to become the best possible player that he can be. In his minor league career after getting drafted in the 28th round by the Los Angeles Angels in 2013, he has shown alot of potential. In his minor league career his stats are as follows

4 teams

batting average (career is)= .268

OBP: .370

Slugging: .369

Judging by the scouting reports, and his overall mentality, this is definitely a player to watch for this spring training and this upcoming season.
