Angels 2017 Player Predictions: LF Ben Revere

Updated: March 28, 2017

Welcome to Halo Headquarters Angels 2017 Player Predictions. It’s time to start with the Outfield. First up Left Fielder Ben Revere.

The 2016 season was not a great year for Ben Revere. He hit .217/.260/.300 with two home runs and 24 RBI in 103 games with the Washington Nationals. However he has found new life with the Angels so far in Spring Training.

Ben Revere has been on an absolute tear this spring, batting .422 (19-for-45) with a home run and four stolen bases.

It’s hard to ignore the speedy outfielder’s production this spring, but the Angels have found a way to remain mum on what could be an interesting position battle for left field between Revere and Cameron Maybin. Going off production alone, the former would seem like the clear choice to roll with when the season begins.

Earlier in the spring, manager Mike Scioscia said that Maybin was his starting left fielder, and nothing has changed since then. Revere’s production this spring has certainly opened some eyes, but he appears destined for a fourth outfielder role to begin the season.

Even if he appears to be heading toward the fourth outfielder role to start the season, he will still get plenty of time at the plate or on the bases. Before 2016 Revere had two straight seasons with over 180 hits and three straight .300 plus batting average seasons. Revere was a high-caliber hitter, but the 2016 season was a struggle for him.
