Royals get the best of the Angels, Again.

Angels 2 Royals 4

April 10th 2015 (Game 004)

ANAHEIM – The Angels opened up 2015 at Angel Stadium the same way they closed in 2014. The Angels lost, 4-2, to the Kansas City Royals on friday night, falling in a tight game to the team that embarrassed them in the post-season. By losing, the Angels failed to get revenge on last year’s playoff series. Hector Santiago was one of the many who was fired up to get revenge on the Royals. Santiago had a rocky season debut, yielding six hits and three runs while only pitching into the sixth. Hector found a nice rhythm after 50 pitches heading into the 3rd, but his high pitch count and hit count lead him to bench in the 6th. David Freese homered and Kole Calhoun had an early RBI double for the Angels, yet they could not close the book on the Royals. However, the Angels who have lost their last three home openers seem to pull it around and finish strong.

Jason Vargas got the best of the Angels again, by allowing only five hits and two earned runs. The Bullpen for the Royals shutdown the Angels by only allowing two hits, yet racking up six strikeouts in three innings. On the other hand, The Angels bullpen was no where to be found. In a tight game with the score 3-2 and possibly a chance for the Angels to win it in the bottom half, Fernando Salas came in the 9th and allowed two hits, one walk, and a run in only one out of work. Salas begins the new year with a 6.75 ERA. Angels are back in play tonight at 6:05 PM (PT Time)
