Happy Jackie Robinson day as the red hot Angels take a three games series to the 0-9 Minnesota twins.

Our Angels flew over to Minnesota to face the Twins, after sweeping the Oakland Athletics on their home turf. As every team in the Major League pays their respects to the great player that broke the color barrier. The Angels and the Twins, started the season horrifically, but the Angels able to turn it around. With forty-twos all around the diamond the game began.

The Angels having their ace right-hander, Garret Richards, take the mound in the first game of the series and the Twins, putting Tommy Milone on the mound. These two starters matched each other pitch for pitch, giving up base hits, but plenty of runners left on base for both sides. It wasn’t until the sixth inning, Carlos Perez, ripped a single to center. Followed up by a, Johnny Giavotella, sacrifice bunt and moved Perez to second, only to be scored by, Yunel Escobar, smacking a double to right center. The Angels were finally on the board, but Minnesota determined to score, plated two men by Trevor Plouffe, Miguel Sano, and Byung Ho Park. The Angels, turned it around in the seventh. Albert Pujols, smoked a ball the other way for lead off solo home run. Followed by the RED hot, Cole Calhoun, launched a two run shot to right field giving the Halos a two run lead over the Twins.

The desperate, but relentless Twins wanted that first win and they got it in the eighth inning they clawed their way to taking the lead by one. Their was a shine of hope with a lead off walk by Perez, but nothing came of it, and our Angels were shut down in the ninth. There is no need to worry Angel Fans, it is only the first game. Plus, our Angels still showed they could plate runs, but the aggressive base running went against them today. The baseball gods gave a little love to the 1-9 Twins on Robinson’s day. Count on the Angels to strike back against the Twins tomorrow at 11:oo am pacific.
