After losing their bench coach Torey Lovullo to the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Boston Red Sox have poached Gary DiSarcina, the Angels 1st base coach, to replace him.

DiSarcina has been a coach in the Angels organization since 2014 and was a player from 1989-2000. DiSarcina has been in the Red Sox organization before, spending eight years as a coach and a minor league manager.

The Red Sox’s hire of DiSarcina puts the Angels in a difficult position as Mike Scioscia announced that the whole Angels coaching staff was to be brought back for the 2017 season.

No word yet on who the Angels would consider to replace DiSarcina, but it is expected that it will be announced in the near future.
