Angels Lose A Tough One In Arizona, Fall 3-2 To D-Backs

June 17th 2015

Angels 2 D-Backs 3 (Game 066) (Record: 33-33)

Anaheim – The Los Angeles Angels took a road trip to Arizona to begin a road series with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but could not pull through in the end. The Angels had tons of opportunities to tie or even take the lead in tonights game, but the lineup fell through once again. The Angels were a hitting machine tonight with Eleven hits, but only managed to score two runs.

Hector Santaigo was on the mound for the Angels, as he had his first ever start against the D-backs. However Santiago outing was short lived as he only went five Innings, with allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Santiago had a problem with his control as he was already at his max of 100 pitches in the 5th Inning. Santiago would give up two Home-Runs in the game, both solo from Paul Goldschmidt and Welington Castillo. The Angels were already down 3-0 when Santiago was taken out but the Angels had one last push to try to tie the game up.

With the score 3-2, Matt Joyce came to the plate, and this would happen.

Joyce would triple to deep left field, but would be stranded at 3rd, due to a Johnny Giavotella strikeout. The Angels were 0-9 in runners in scoring positions. Anytime the Angels cannot score with runners on, you might as well call it game, as they are known for leaving runners on. Maybe it was the Road Trip that through the Angels off today, but a lost is a lost.
