Angels lose three-run lead, make it tenth straight loss

Updated: August 14, 2016

Weaver took the hill for the final game of their 9 game road trip, while the Halos tried to avoid a third straight sweep. They faced the Indians for the last game of their 4 game series in Cleveland.

Things looked grim in the first inning when the Weave gave up a solo shot to Jason Kipnis, but then the Angels turned it on in the second inning when Ji-Man Choi hit a two run shot scoring himself and Jefry Marte. The Angels were rolling despite not having Trout in the lineup, his replacement Nick Buss filled in nicely going 2-3 with a double and hitting a lead off triple in the 3rd where he was eventually scored by Escobar on a groundout to short.

Then in the 4th Geovany Soto hit a solo shot growing the lead to 4-1.Weaver looked good until the 5th inning where he loaded the bases and gave up two runs shortening the Angels lead to 4-3. The momentum that the Angels had in the beginning of the game, looked lost after the 5th inning.

Weaver let the Indians tie the game in the 6th off a Tyler Naquin double, Jose Valdez came in for Jered after that. In just two pitches Valdez gave up a single to Abraham Almonte scoring Naquin which gave the Indians the lead 5-4, that’s where the game stayed giving the Indians the sweep.

Just when we thought the nine game losing streak was going to stop here, the Angels pitching made sure to keep that streak alive. The Angels go back home tomorrow for a 7 game home stand where they play the Mariners and Yankees.
