Angels needed much more besides the Bash Bros, lose 4-2 against Astros

The Bash Bros would go back-to-back in the 1st Inning to give Jered Weaver a comfortable lead, but much more was needed Saturday Night in Anaheim.

The Angels could have made it two straight wins against the Astros Saturday night, but they were unable to get the job done even with the early celebration of both Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. Weaver would start the game off by giving an early run to the Houston in the 1st Inning, but Trout and Pujols would both go yard to give the fans and teammates something to cheer about.

However the celebration was short-lived as the excitement and momentum would quickly be erased. On the mound for the Astros was Dallas Keuchel who had an outstanding season last year, but has started 2016 down in the dumps. Before today’s contest, Keuchel held a 2-6 record with a 5.58 ERA. Even though he would give up the homers to the Bash Bros, he would settle in and control the game.

Both Weaver and Keuchel would go the distance, until the Astros started to make some noise in the 5th and 6th Innings. Weaver would run into a pickle in the 5th with the runners on the corners. Jose Altuve would send a sac fly to right fielder Kole Calhoun as Jake Marosnick would score to tie the game in the 5th. Weaver would get out of the jam with only allowing 1 run, but more damage would come in the 6th.

Weaver would leave a hanging curveball over the plate, which took about 2 days to reach it, but that’s a different story for another day. Anyway Jason Castro would crush it for a 2-run homer to give Houston a 2 run lead. The ball was crushed near the rocks in center field. The Angels offense was short-lived as Keuchel held the Angels to zero base runners after Johnny Giavotella’s hit in the 3rd Inning. Angels fall to 22-27 as Game 3 will continue at the Big A tomorrow at 12:35 PM. Nick Tropeano will get the start for the Halo’s.
