Mike Trout was not in the Angels lineup, no problem the Halos bats lit up tonight and racked up seven runs against the Oakland Athletics. Angels snag the victory

Here’s what we learned from today’s game

We don’t need Mike Trout all the time.

Who doesn’t like Mike? Best player in the game, and that smile that gets you every time. Thankfully Healed up and resting, Albert Pujols leading the surge with his 596th home run. Then Ben Revere providing some power tying the game in the second with a solo homer. Escobar hit a home run of his own and Pennington turning in a solid night at the plate, scoring a combined six RBI’s between them.

Alex Meyer can hold is own in the Big leagues

He did give up just three runs but he went 5 innings. Walking five but he struck out seven. Meyer proved he deserves to be in the bigs. Getting his first win of the season. Only one hitter burned him and it was Yonder Alonso. If he can keep the pitch count down and the walks to a minimum he will turn into a productive big leaguer.

Injuries, injuries, injuries.

Mike Trout is still recovering from hamstring tightness. Simmons feels great enough to swing the bat but went 0-4 in his return. Richards will remain on the DL for some time. As far as other  arms Bedrosian and Street are still in recovery.

Tomorrow Jesse Chavez looks for redemption against his former team. Angels split the series winning 7-3
