Angels 10 Rangers 2

April 16th 2015 (Game 009)

ANAHEIM – Hector Santiago was back on the mound for the Angels, as he probably threw his best game ever in an Angel uniform. Santiago held the Rangers to one run on four hits through seven innings, with striking out five and walking only two. Santiago pitched for the Angels on their home opener and threw around 100 pitches through seven, yet on Wednesday, he only needed 103 pitches to get through seven innings. Besides the strong outing of Santiago, the Angels offense finally came around in the ninth game of the season.

Mike Trout became the first Angel this season to steal a base, as he did so in the eight inning. The Angels hit 6-17 with RISP and showed that this lineup can easily do some damage. Johnny Giavotella started the party with a single that drove in Freese and Iannetta. Next Aybar sacrificed to let Cowgill score from third. Finally, the hits from Pujols and Joyce had the Angels leading 6-0 at the end of the second inning. Pujols and Trout would continue to hit as they both had another RBI a piece to have the Angels lead push up to 8-1 in the 6th. David Freese wanted to make it a nine run lead, as he did so in the 6th singling with bases loaded to bring in Trout and Pujols. The Angels bats were alive, and showed opponents that they can score 6 runs in any inning. 10 Angels crossed home plate, and with the stellar pitching of Santiago the Angels easily took the last game of the series.

Angels look to continue hot hitting streak in Texas as they face the Astros in a 3 game Series.
