Cron and Bandy Power Angels offense, defeat Twins 10-2

The rubber match of the series featured struggling southpaw, Hector Santiago for the Angels against Twins right hander, Tyler Duffey.  Santiago looked to get back on track after allowing five runs in just one plus innings in his last outing. His counterpart also struggled in his last start, yielding six earned in just five and a third innings.

After a scoreless three innings, the Angels would plate two runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 2-0 lead. Twins would cut the lead in half in the fifth, as Kurt Suzuki singled home Brian Dozier making it 2-1 Angels. In the bottom of the fifth, the Angels loaded the bases for C.J Cron, who delivered a single up the middle scoring Escobar and giving the Angels a 3-1 lead. Twins would go the bullpen and bring in lefty, Taylor Rogers to face Jefry Marte. Marte would walk with the bases loaded scoring another run, as it was now 4-1. After a strikeout, Jett Bandy would single to right, scoring two more runs as the Angels opened up a 6-1 lead. Next batter was Andrelton Simmons, who contributed with a base hit, scoring Bandy and extending the lead to 7-1. Then in the sixth, the Angels added three more as Pujols had an RBI single, followed a two RBI double by Cron, extending their lead to 10-1. Santiago would be done after six innings, as he was relieved by Deolis Guerra. The Twins would tack on a run in the top of the eighth off Guerra, as Joe Mauer singled home Byron Buxton cutting the lead to 10-2.  Al Alburquerque would pitch a scoreless ninth as the Angels defeated the Twins 10-2, to win the series.

Hector Santiago was the winning pitcher, as he yielded one run in six innings, walked two and struck out five. He improves to 4-4 on the season. The loss is charged to Tyler Duffey, who allowed six runs, four of them earned in four and one-third innings. He falls to 2-6.  The Angels have Thursday off, before they start a three game set in Oakland on Friday.
