Cron to Help Spark an Explosive Halo Offense

Updated: January 23, 2017

C.J. Cron, the Angels slugging first basemen will have the most productive seasons of his young career, should he remain healthy of course after being plagued by many injuries, Cron has not shown his true value to the team.

Cron, is the outcast in Eppler’s system. He is the typical power first basemen. He doesn’t have the defensive prowess that Eppler looks for in his players. If anything Cron has applied the Angels new philosophy to his game. Within 445 plate appearances Cron’s has struck out only 16% of the time in 2016. Even his batting average has improved to .262.

Still he will be able to shine as a powerhouse bat. He won’t over shine the likes of Mike Trout, but will be able to add much needed power to the offense. Hitting 16 homers in the 2016 season and 51 RBI’s Cron can fill the middle lineup. Complementing anyone who hits in front of him, with a slugging of .467. In the middle of the lineup Cron is a serious threat in their lineup.

Cron shows signs a young Mark Trumbo, having similar size and hitting power. There have been few rumors of a possible trade. That would be a huge mistake, since he provides offensive value for a team that had the leagues worst offenses in 2016. If the Angels plan on improving and making it into the playoffs they need guys like Cron. He provides power and rises to the occasion in big moments.
