Angels 3 Rangers 2

April 24th 2015 (Game 017)

ANAHEIM – David Freese lifted the Angels past the Rangers with a two-run Home-run in the seventh that gave Garret Richards his first win of the season. Richards showed last year that he could be the Angels number one pitcher, and he did so friday night. Richards went seven innings with only allowing three hits and two earned runs. Richards controlled the strike zone by also striking out five. Although Richards did run into some trouble in the 3rd as Mitch Moreland and Price Fielder each recorded an RBI Single. Rangers lead 2-0 at the end of three.

Wandy Rodriguez also pitched a solid game for the Rangers, as he only allowed five hits in five innings. The only run given up by Wandy was in the fourth due to a sacrifice fly in the fourth from Chris Iannetta. After Rodriguez was pulled in the fifth because of his high pitch count it was a 2-1 Ball Game. Both bullpens kept both teams out of scoring until the bottom of the 7th when Keone Kela gave up a 2 run Home Run to David Freese.

Freese got all of a low pitch fast ball that went into center field. Richards can be seen on the bench fired up as he knows his bullpen can give him his first win of the season. Joe Smith came into the eighth and shutdown the Rangers with a 1-2-3 inning. Angels held their ground to the ninth, as Houston Street came on to close it out. Street struggled to begin the ninth due to an Iannetta over throw, but would close out the game to give the Angels a 3-2 Victory over the Rangers.
