Astros 10 – Angels 5 (Game 99) ( Record 55-44)

The Angels began their six game road trip, as they played game one of a crucial three game series against the Houston Astros, Tuesday night at Minute Maid Park. The Astros are just one game back of the Angels for first place in the division. The starting pitchers for game were C.J Wilson for the Angels, against Collin McHugh for the Astros.

Angels got the bats going early, as they score two runs in the first to take a 2-0 lead.  Astros would get one back  in the second, off the bat of Carlos Correa as he hit his 9th homer of the season to cut the lead to 2-1. Angels added three more in second, as Conor Gillaspie singled home a run, and then two batters later Albert Pujols singled in two more to make it 4-1. Wilson then gave it back, as he allowed a two-run homer to Chris Carter, and then allowed a two-out RBI single to Jose Altuve to tie up the game at four. Angels re-took the lead in the third, as Chris Iannetta hit a solo home run to left to make it 5-4. The lead would not last long, as Jose Altuve singled home two more in the fourth to make it 6-5 Astros. In the sixth, Mike Morin who finished off the fifth for C.J Wilson, allowed back-to-back doubles to start the inning as the Astros now led 7-5. Then after a single to Jake Marisnick, Jose Altuve doubled home two more runs as the Astros lead was extended to 9-5. Fernando Salas would then relieved Morin, and got the first two outs of the inning, but then allowed an RBI triple to Evan Gattis to make it 10-5. That would be all the all the offense needed, as the Astros bullpen came in and shutdown the Angels offense, as they took game one by the final score of 10-5 over the Angels.
