The Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletics meet Wednesday in MLB action at Oakland Alameda Coliseum.

The Los Angeles Angels hope to ride the wave of momentum from Danny Espinosa’s three-run homer that won them the game in the top of the ninth. The Angels looked dead in the water for a second straight game but got a much needed shot in the arm for their first win of the season. Overall, Mike Trout leads the Angels with three hits and three RBI while Yunel Escobar and Cameron Maybin have combined for five hits and one RBI.

The Los Angeles Angels have now won 10 of their last 13 regular season games. Garrett Richards gets the ball, and he was 1-3 with a 2.34 ERA and 34 strikeouts last season. Richards is 2-4 with a 4.53 ERA and 47 strikeouts in his career against the Athletics.

The Oakland Athletics have to get back on track after a heartbreaking loss, but they’ve shown positive signs the first couple of games. The A’s have combined for 10 runs and the pitching has been sharp besides the blown save in Tuesday’s loss. Offensively, Jed Lowrie leads Oakland with five hits and one RBI while Khris Davis and Rajai Davis have combined for five hits and four RBI.

The Oakland Athletics have lost eight of their last nine games when allowing more than three runs. Jharel Cotton gets the ball, and he was 2-0 with a 2.15 ERA and 23 strikeouts last season. This will be Cotton’s second career game against the Angels.

It’s going to be tough to rebound from that loss if you’re the A’s, as you had a chance to start 2-0 for the first time in over a decade. Cotton is also a young pitcher who has less than 30 career innings under his belt, so an experienced LA lineup could tag him up a bit. Richards has given up just 14 hits in 74 career at bats against this current Oakland lineup and is coming off a season in which he had a lower road ERA than what he had at home. I like the Angels here.
