LTBU: The Angels Offense is Alive!

Updated: April 25, 2016

The Angels take game one against the defending champs in an amazing fashion.

First inning, fans settling in all around. Garrett Richards, takes the mound, gets Escobar to line out, Moustakas walks, Cain strikes out, and Hosmer grounds out. This high-powered offense, was not able to capitalize with a runner on, which is what the Royals are known for. As soon as the Angels ace got into the game, he became unhittable and only allowed 4 hits and 1 run over 6.2 innings of work. This is the ace worthy performance from, Richards, we’ve been looking for and he showed up for the Royals. I wouldn’t jump on the hype train yet, but if he can stay consistent the All-Star game could be calling his name.

Nearing the end of the 6th, Richards, showed signs of fatigue and, Scioscia, made a move to the pen and brought in, Fernando Salas. Salas, thus far has been fairly inconsistent, but today he blew away the nay sayers in his outing. Joe Smith, came to shut down the Royals in the 9th and did just that.

Todays offensive performance was, well, absolutely awesome. Fans had a great ball game to watch. Mainly, manufactured runs in the first; a passed ball scored, Ortega, and, Cole Calhoun, served up an RBI ground out. Andrelton Simmons, lined one up the middle scoring another run in the first making it 3-0 Angels. Fast forward to the bottom 3rd, Albert Pujols, at the plate, and launches a solo shot to surpass, Reggie Jackson, in all time homers. All of a sudden its the 5th inning and, Pujols, does it again with another big fly. He has had 52 multi-home run games since joining the league in 2001. Once we reached the 7th inning, Mike Tout, felt left out of the home run parade, so he sent a ball 425 ft over the left field fence! The final score was 6-1 Angels.

This is the offense Halo fans have been waiting for. Ever since spring training we’ve been waiting for the speed, power, and aggressiveness we saw out of our Angels tonight. But wait, don’t jump on the hype train just yet, we have plenty games to left in the season. Tune into tomorrows matchup against KC at 7:05 PDT.
