Finally, week-long losing is over. The Angels beat the Mariners 7-6 in the 9th inning. Tropeano, did a decent job against the high-powered Mariner offense. Tropeano, went five decent innings only allowing 2 runs, striking out 3, and gave up 5 hits. Not a spectacular showing but he did keep the Angels in the ball game. The struggles came from an over worked bullpen. Jose Alvarez, surrendered three runs in the sixth inning, Mahle, didn’t breeze through his inning and gave up a run. Joe Smith, brought into the ball game to relieve, Mahle, he was shaky in the beginning walking two batters, but got out of the eighth unscathed. By doing so, Smith, picked up his first win of the season. Fernando Salas, was brought up in the bottom of the ninth and picked  up his first save of the season. Although the bullpen gave up most of the runs, they have been the real MVP’S of the season for the Angels.

The Angel offense was not going to lose. They scored first when, Mike Trout, stole second, followed up by a, Daniel Nava, rbi single to take the lead early on. The lead was quickly gone in the bottom of the fourth, a sac fly scored Seth Smith to tie the game. once the bottom fifth hit, Tropeano was burned by, Cruz, as he smoked a homer over the wall to break the tie. It wasn’t until the 6th inning the Mariners would break the game open putting a 4 spot on the Angels.

It was not until the seventh inning the offense found its spark. With runners on base, Gregorio Petit, pinch-hitting, lined one to left with the bases loaded. Calhoun, sac-flied to right to score, Soto, from third. Trout, came up to the plate, doubled to left, Giavotella, scored bringing the lead down 5-3 Mariners. Iannetta, got back at his old team in the seventh by hitting a solo shot extending the lead again 6-3. Then in the last two innings, the Angels, mustered the last of their strength, scoring 2 runs in the eighth and ninth innings. Cron, was a hero today as he hit a homer and brought in the tying and go ahead runs for the Angels.

They may have broken the losing streak, but can they get a wining streak? These Angels have plenty to prove this season, especially fighting alongside injured players. It won’t shake this team as long as they can carry the confidence from todays win to tomorrow. RHP Jhoulys Chacin, will make his first start as an Angel pitcher tomorrow, watch him live @6:10 PDT.
