The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim will be leaving  Milwaukee with a much-needed victory as they were on the verge of being swept by the Brewers. Today’s game looked to be another typical Angels loss but the Halo’s bats came to life in the 8th Inning as they put in the nail in the coffin. Angels starting pitcher Hector Santiago was on the mound today, as he would give the Brewers a quick lead in the 2nd Inning.

Hernan Perez would crush a hanging curveball in his first at bat and send it to the right field stands to give the Brewers a quick 1-0 lead. Santiago would only go 5.1 Innings, allowing 8 hits and 3 earned runs. With the Angels already down, Trout and company would flip the script in the 3rd inning. Rafael Ortega would get the Angels on the board with a RBI single to center field to drive in Johnny G. Ortega would later steal 2nd. This would set up the perfect opportunity for Mike Trout as he would connect with an RBI Triple to give the Angels a 2-1 lead.

The Halo’s lead was short-lived, as Brewers star Ryan Braun would tie the game up in the 5th Inning with a ground ball single up the middle. Santiago would leave the game with the bases loaded in the 6th inning, as Cam Bedrosian would throw a wild pitch, to give  Milwaukee their lead right back. It was a quiet game until the 8th and 9th inning, where the Angels bats did not want to see their team get swept.

MVP Mike Trout would begin the slugfest with a homer to right field, his 7th on the year to tie the game. With runners on, C.J Cron would enter in the game with a line drive shot to left field which would bring in Simmons. With runners on 3rd and 2nd, Johnny G would once again prove he deserves that 2nd baseman spot with a double to left field to bring in Soto and Cron. The Angels now had a commanding 6-3 lead in the 8th inning.

Kole Calhoun the “Red Barron” did not like a 3 run lead heading into the 9th, as he too would join the party and make it a 4 run lead with a RBI Single to right field. The Angels now led 7-3, and that was that for the Brewers. Pitcher Joe Smith would come in and pitch 2 scoreless innings as he would record the save. The Angels are heading back to Anaheim to face the Rays in a 3-game series. #LTBU
