Rough 1st Inning By Weaver leads To Angels loss

Angels 2 A’s 6

April 28th 2015 (Game 020)

ANAHEIM – The Los Angeles Angels came into the game ready to score some runs to help Jered Weaver get his first victory of the season. The Angels did tack on two runs thanks to the birthday boy himself David Freese. Freese would send a single to center field to drive in both Calhoun and Pujols to give the Angels the early 2-0 lead against the A’s ace Sonny Gray. The Angels were all over Gray in the first, and the same was for the A’s with Jered Weaver.

Weaver would begin the 1st inning and load the bases, due to hits from Marcus Semien, Stephen Vogt and hitting Butler in the arm. Weaver would get Ike Davis to pop out with the bases loaded to make it two outs, yet Josh Reddick of the A’s had other plans of ending the inning this early. Reddick would single to right field to bring in both Semien and Vogt to tie the game up 2-2. However Weaver was still not out of the nightmare inning. The very next batter Brett Lawrie would send a shot over the center field wall to give the A’s a commanding 5-2 lead in the 1st.

Weaver and Gray would have four straight 1-2-3 innings until the 6th inning. In the bottom of the 6th Josh Reddick was not done with Weaver, as he sent a line drive shot to the right field stands, Gone. A’s would now have a 6-2 lead, and behind Gray’s pitching, this game was over.
