12 years ago today, Angels OF Vladimir Guerrero set a single-game franchise record

Angels OF Vladimir Guerrero has made a lot of history with the Halo’s however today’s date of June 2nd marks a very special day where the future Hall Of Famer set a single-game franchise record.

Guerrero played with the Angels for 6 years, as he would become a threat both on offense and defense. Big Vlad would always come up big against the big rivals, as he did so back in 2004. His first year with the Angels, he would come up big with a 9 RBI Game against the Boston Red Sox.

The starting pitcher for the Sox was Pedro Martinez who he himself was always a task to deal with. However on June 2nd 2004, it was all Angels as Vladimir Guerrero would set a single game franchise record. Scoring 9 RBI’s in one game is a tall order, but Guerrero is one of those players would did not let any at bat go to waste.

Some also key notes from that game, David Eckstein went 5 for 5 against Pedro Martinez. Little man Eckstein also would join the party with Guerrero. It’s hard to find a game where any player hits above 5 RBI’s yet goes 5-5 or totals 9 RBI’s. A couple of years later Angels OF Garret Anderson would break that record with a 10 RBI Game.

Vladimir Guerrero would finish his career with the Angels having 173 home runs, 616 RBI’s and a .319 batting average.
