Hector Santiago struggles in the 6th Inning as the Rangers rally to victory

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim looked to continue to play some good baseball in Texas against the Rangers, but were unable to finish the job. The Angels just swept the defending world series Champions Kansas City Royals but were stopped in Texas with their winning streak. The Halo’s have been known for not being the most consistent team in baseball as this could be the talk of the season.

For the Angels offense, it was mainly supported by one player. That player was catcher Geovany Soto who would be the first Halo to get the team on the board. Soto would destroy a 0-2 off-speed pitch in the 3rd Inning to give the Angels a 1-0 lead. Geovany Soto would come in the clutch again to deliver the 3rd straight hit in the 4th inning to bring in Simmons for the 2nd RBI of the day for him. Angels would now lead 2-0 with a very commanding Hector Santiago on the mound.

On the mound today for the Angels was Hector Santiago who entered the day with a 2-0 record. Santiago has the ability to become a top pitcher in the Angels rotation, as he has started the 2016 season in grand fashion. Santiago however would struggle in the 6th Inning, and give the game away. Santiago had complete control of his off-speed and commanded the strike zone. Santiago would run into a small bump during the 5th inning when he let a 2-0 fastball run too much inside as Ryan Rua would crush it into the left field seats. Santiago would then allow three earned runs in the 6th inning.

Prince Fielder would single on a ground ball, to right field as Odor would come in to tie the game. On a 3-2 count, Desmond would connect on a double to left field as Fielder got a early jump thanks to the count and barley make it at home to give the Rangers a 3-2 lead. Mitch Moreland would connect on another fastball and send it to right field as he would drive in Desmond to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead. That was the end of Hector Santiago tonight.

The Angels offense would be quiet after the early innings, as they were unable to come back to claim their 4th straight victory. The Angels send Matt Shoemaker on the mound tomorrow at 5:05 PM PT Time in Texas to get back to their winning ways. Halo’s fall to 11-12
