The Angels, win the freeway series against their cross town rivals, the Dodgers. What started as a tie ballgame rolled into a rally and come from behind victory for the Angels.
Jhoulys Chacin took the mound for the Angels tonight, he allowed a hit and a walk, and a wild pitch would bring in a run for the Dodgers. With one out in the first, Mike Trout, singled to center field scoring, Calhoun. The Dodgers, retaliate by breaking the tie, Kendrick, triples scoring two, 3-1 Dodgers. The Angels weren’t done scoring yet, Trout, comes up to bat with two outs in the third, and belts his tenth home run of the season.
Even though they slimmed the lead, the Dodgers, mustered up a few hits to extend the lead by two in the fifth inning. The Halo, offense was not ready to go down. Cron, took one for the team with the bases loaded, being hit by a pitch to score a run. Again, down by one, Johnny G, clutches up for the Angels, and scores two runs with a single to left. They took the lead in the fifth, 5-4.
Carlos Perez, wanted in on the home run action, and sent a big fly over the center field wall, for his first of the season. Another, manufactured run will put the Angels at 7 runs and 11 hits.
The bullpen was phenomenal, each reliever producing shut out innings. Despite the injuries, this bullpen has been the unsung heroes of the entire organization. Joe Smith, stepped up and filled the shoes as a closer, did more than what he was asked to do.
