LTBU: Johnny Giavotella dismantles the Royals

Another exciting game for the Angels! Jared Weaver, got the start tonight against the Royals. It wasn’t a stellar performance for, Weaver, but he did his job. He kept his team in the ball game and gave the Angels a fighting chance. To start the game, Weaver, surrendered a solo shot to Moustakas in the 1st. As runs for the Royals kept piling up to 4 in the 4th inning, Weaver, and the bullpen shut them down for 5 strait innings. Greg Mahle, showed up in the 8th and 9th inning shutting down the Royals.

Weaver, allowed 9 hits, 4 earned runs, 2 walks, and 4 strike outs. He needed the defense to help him out tonight and the defense said “We got your back”, another strong performance from the pitching staff and the Angel defense. The Angels offense was on fire tonight and, Johnny Giavotella, was the spark plug. Angels squandered a bases loaded first inning, but it did not faze the players. The rally started in the 2nd inning when, Rafael Ortega, grounded out to first, Cron scored, Giavotella to third, and Escobar to second. Which brought, Mike Trout, to the plate; he poked a single in to right field scoring both runners, making it a 3-2 ball game.

The rally carried to the 5th, starting with 3 singles, Perez, clutched up and singled up the middle scoring Pujols and Simmons. With two runners on here comes, Johnny G. On the second pitch he sees he launched a 3 run Big Fly making it 9-4 Angels. Johnny’s home run was the final blow that put the Royals to bed. Final score is 9-4 Angels.

The offense is red-hot! This is what the team needed with Weaver on the mound and they answered the call. Our Angels totalled 14 hits and not a single error. Fans Have been waiting for this aggressive offense and it took the defending champions of baseball to awaken this sleeping monster. Nick Tropeano, takes the mound tomorrow as the Angels are in the hunt for another sweep against KC at 7:05 pm PDT.
