Angels 6 A’s 3
April 29th 2015 (Game 021)
ANAHEIM – The Los Angeles Angels looked to rebound after last nights loss to the Oakland A’s. Matt Shoemaker was on the mound for the Angels, and fun fact did not allow five runs in the first inning like Jered Weaver did last night. Matt Shoemaker went 5.2 innings, with allowing 6 hits and 3 runs. Shoemaker looked solid all the way until the 6th inning, where he could not hit his locations. Shoemaker was confident all day, as the Angels offense gave him the lead early. Erick Aybar singled in Kole Calhoun and Mike Trout to make it a 2-0 ball game after the first inning. Mike Trout would add to that as he would launch his fifth home-run in left center field. 3-0 Angels after three innings.
Matt Shoemaker would then run into some trouble in the 6th inning. Shoemaker held a 3-1 lead going into the 6th inning, yet would leave the game allowing other two runs. Ike Davis would double down the line to drive in Marcus Semien. Next Josh Reddick would tie the game, as he sent a ball over Mike Trouts head to bring in Ike Davis. At the end of six, it was a tie ball game at 3-3. Shoemaker left the game, but the Angels offense responded the next inning.
Matt Joyce would begin the 7th inning with a walk. C.J. Cron would also get himself on base as he hit a single to right field. Chris Iannetta would however strikeout, but the next batter gave the Angels the lead. The Big Man Johnny Giavotella would single in center field to score in Matt Joyce. 4-3 Angels. Kole Calhoun would take a great at bat, and turn that into a walk to load the bases for the MVP himself Mike Trout. The MVP would get all of this baseball and send it to deep left fielder to drive in both C.J Cron and Johnny G. The Angels now had a commanding 6-3 Lead.
The Los Angeles Angels would hold onto the lead thanks to a solid bullpen. Fernando Salas, Mike Morin and Joe Smith would shutdown the Angels, and hand the ball off to Houston Street in the 9th inning. Houston Street would make the A’s look silly at the plate and complete a 1-2-3 inning to give the Angels the 6-3 Win.
