Trout Goes Yard Twice, Angels Win 6-3

ANAHEIM – The Los Angeles Angels needed two guys to finish off the Astros on friday night. First, Jered Weaver started the game for the Angels, and had his best start yet. Weaver went 6 innings, only allowing 6 hits, 2 runs, yet striking out 3. Weaver would get help from his offense in the 4th as Matt Joyce hit a sacrifice fly to left fielder to bring in Kole Calhoun. Angels welcomed back Kole Calhoun who was not in the starting lineup for the last series against the Rangers, and he came back in style by going 2-3, 2 hits and bringing in 3 runs. Kole Calhoun was another reason why the Angels got runs on the board as well. However this night belong to last years MVP Mike Trout.

Mike Trout would get into the record books tonight, as he hit number 100 and 101 tonight. Trout would get into the record books as being one of the youngest (23 years old) to reach 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases. Trout opened the lead again for the Angels as he hit Number 100 to deep left field, to drive in Kole Calhoun. The Angels would let that lead slip right away as Jose Alvarez came in to relief Weaver and let 2 runs come across the plate before he was taken out in the 7th.

However Angel Fans, no need to worry as Mike Trout had no thoughts in heading to extra innings. After an single by Giavotella and Calhoun, Mike Trout stepped up to the plate in the top of the 8th. With no outs, Trout hit the Go-Ahead and his 101st Home Run. Trout launched this home run to right field to give the Angels the win. Houston Street would come into the 9th and once again shut down his batters. The Angels get the much needed victory as they are back to a .500 win pct.
